Get bills processed sooner, effectively, and efficiently!

For your convenience, bills can be submitted electronically or through the online web portal. Please check the description and instruction for each submission method below.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the desire to follow social distancing, OWCP is taking steps to move toward a fully-electronic medical bill processing system. Currently, we continue to accept paper documents but providers who continue to submit paper documents may experience processing delays.

Web Interactive – Direct data entry (DDE) using WCMBP screen

This method is for providers to enter (key in) individual bills/attachments directly in the system from the provider portal.

Web Batch – Upload EDI files online

This method is available to all providers, including billing agent/clearinghouse, to submit EDI batch file using WCMBP Provider Portal. It allows a maximum file size of 50MB. At this time, attachments cannot be included with bills. Please submit attachments through the appropriate OWCP program portal:

Completion of the EDI testing process is not mandatory prior to submitting electronic transactions in production to WCMBP. But it is strongly recommended to ensure proper billing and prompt medical bill processing and payment. Please refer to the 837 Companion Guide for the details how to upload the EDI files in Testing or Production mode.

FTP Secured Batch – Upload EDI files to Secured FTP folder

This method is for providers who will submit and retrieve batches at a secured FTP folder. It allows submission of bills/attachments at a file size of more than 50MB. It's recommended to limit the file size to less than 100MB.

To submit the EDI file using this method, please refer to the 837 Companion Guide for the steps to set up your SFTP account.
