Claimants and Representatives

Department of Energy employees and specified affiliates diagnosed with certain diseases resulting from toxic exposure at covered facilities – as well as their survivors – may qualify for benefits under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA) or the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA).

What You Need to Know

  • Energy Employees: If eligible for benefits, you will receive a packet with your login credentials, ID card, and instructions for submitting bills for medical and travel expense reimbursement.
  • Survivors: Please register with OWCP Connect to check your case status.
  • Authorized Representatives / Power of Attorney (AR/POA): If an AR/POA is appointed, he or she will receive a welcome letter with the instructions and login credentials required to register and use the system on the employee or survivor’s behalf.
  • ID Cards: Employee claimants must present their DEEOIC ID card to their medical provider at each appointment. The provider will need the claimant case ID number on the card.
